In the heart of Leiden, you’ll find a special spot for jazz lovers: De Twee Spieghels. It’s here that Jazzton regularly hosts live performances, followed by energetic jam sessions where musicians meet on stage – often for the first time.

The evenings usually begin with a set band – perhaps a swinging trio or a funky quintet – and gradually evolve into an open session. Musicians from the audience, ranging from conservatory students to seasoned professionals, step up to join the groove.

Jazzton’s personal favorite to close the night is “House Party” by Fred Wesley. This funky anthem usually brings the house down, with everyone – both the audience and performers – dancing as if they’re in a New Orleans club.
